Can I take any of the FMTI Programs at any of the campuses?
Each campus is separately licensed and therefore some programs may be offered at one campus and not the other. Firefighting, for example, is only offered at the Melbourne location. All continuing education courses are offered at each campus. Check calendar for dates and locations.
Is FMTI Accredited?
First, Accreditation is not licensure. FMTI is licensed by the Florida Department of Education to offer all of the programs we offer including the AS Degrees. Upon completion of the programs, the student will be eligible for certification exams if required by the state i.e. EMT/Paramedic. However, FMTI is accredited through The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). ABHES is a national accrediting body licensed and approved by the US Department of Education. Even though FMTI is accredited, all schools have the ability to accept or deny transfer credits if you choose to further your education. Please check with your local institution(s) for transfer policy.
Can I receive a degree from FMTI?
Florida Medical Training Institute offers Associates of Science degrees in Emergency Medical Services Technology and Fire Science Technology. These programs consist of certification programs along with general education requirements and electives. These degrees are offered at the Coconut Creek campus and Melbourne campus; however courses taken at any FMTI campus will be accepted towards your degree.
Does FMTI have financial aid?
Although FMTI is eligible for title IV funding (Stafford Loans and Pell Grants) we choose not to participate at this time due to the short length and cost of our programs. We do however, offer several payment options for students to fund our programs including a private financing option, in house financing, and VA benefits.
What is your student to instructor ratio?
Each program has separate requirements for student to instructor ratio. However, in a lab or practical setting FMTI maintains a 1:6 ratio.
What is the length of the programs?
The flexibility of scheduling is what drives many students to FMTI. The programs that are offered are hour based programs which can be delivered day or night and at times on a “shift” friendly basis to assure the working professional can still continue his/her education.
Does FMTI offer any of their programs online?
FMTI does offer the general education requirements of the degree program online. Each course is 10 weeks long and more than one can be taken at a time. FMTI uses a blackboard interface for the online courses.
Upon enrolling at FMTI, would I be expected to pay any additional fees?
FMTI publishes all of our fees in each student’s enrollment agreement. The costs are broken down to tuition, books and supplies and registration fee. In some programs, however, the State of Florida or other regulatory agency may require a student to pay a “certification” fee, but this will be after graduation of the program and payment would be made to those particular agencies.
